Celebrating the Spirit in Orange
By Jeff Curtis, Director Orange Downtown Alliance | Posted: Wednesday, November 11, 2009
On Saturday, December 5th, from 3-5pm., the Orange Downtown Alliance will present a free, family-centered Christmas celebration of music. Three local churches: Zion Baptist Church, Little Zion Baptist Church and Shady Grove Baptist Church will join their choirs and offer traditional, gospel and Christmas music. "We were discussing an event that would embrace the holiday season" said Jeff Curtis, Director of the ODA. "Nothing brings people of all denominations together more than beautiful seasonal music," said Curtis. "What we’re planning is for each church to have about 20 minutes to present their favorite songs, then, after the three churches are done they’ll all come together on stage as one choir for a finale of two or three songs. It’ll be amazing."
Along with the musical presentation, the Farmers Market will be available. Each of the churches have offered to provide free cakes and pastries, hot chocolate and other home-made seasonal items.
This is the Orange Downtown Alliance’s way of bringing the community together for the holidays, said Curtis, the event is free, the food will be free and I promise that you will enjoy the music.
The Celebrating the Spirit in Orange event will be held in front of the Train Station on Short Street in Orange on Saturday, December 5th from 3-5p.
