Certified Tourism Ambassador Certification Training

The Orange Downtown Alliance invites you to participate in the Journey Through Hallowed Ground’s (JTHG) Certified Tourism Ambassador Training Program. Orange has been selected as one of the first destinations in Virginia to roll out this new and innovative program, slated for November 24.
The JTHG Certified Tourism Ambassador Program is a ground-breaking, nationwide, certification program for front-line retail and hospitality workers. It’s recognized by the Destination Marketing Association International and used by destinations across the nation. Those who successfully complete the program are recognized as a Certified Tourism Ambassador or CTA. Here are a few highlights about the program:
- CTA’s are trained to turn every visitor encounter into a positive experience, creating a culture of quality service.
- The program is based on data showing that visitors, who receive positive and knowledgeable customer service during their travel to a community stay longer, spend more, return often, and recommend it to their friends – all leading to increased revenue for the local community.
- The program is designed to boost heritage tourism in the region and within the collection of businesses and communities that both contribute to it and benefit from it.
- Successful completion of the program means that those employees and volunteers are awarded the nationally recognized CTA designation and may use the initials behind their names as with any professional designation.
- With annual renewal, certification is ongoing and provides lasting value to the industry, visitors, and tourists. Renewal is achieved by visiting JTHG National Heritage Area attractions, touring local museums, attending CTA networking events, and patronizing local businesses.
- CTA’s are encouraged and given incentive to experience the rest of the JTHG National Heritage area firsthand. With access to an exclusive online database and network, the JTHG CTAs can get discounts to businesses along the Journey to see the partnering sites so they can recommend them from their personal experience.
