July 23, 2009
After months of planning, the Orange Downtown Alliance, (ODA), has launched a community embracing website that will serve as a focal point for much of the information businesses and visitors utilize daily. The site was developed by Steve Walker of Falling Waters, WV who among other talents was a Russian interpreter and chemical weapons inspector for the Air Force and whose primary responsibility is to design and manage the Air Force Clinical Engineering website. The site includes the extraordinary photo work of Walker along with special membership features such as page sponsorships, online subscription applications, immediate viewing of upcoming events, important local information as well as links to partnering organizations. Walker said, "Business is the heart of the community and whatever we can do to promote the vitality of the local businesses of Orange only helps to enhance everybody’s quality of life."
"While the site is open for public use and viewing it should be considered a work in progress for a few months," said Jeff Curtis, Executive Director of the ODA, "Steve and I go back several years working together in community development and the website includes both of our ideas of what should be incorporated into a useable, maintainable site. It will take a little time to adjust it and provide the community with just what it wants on their computer." Curtis, who proudly presented the website to the ODA Board of Directors for initial reactions, said he is proud of the site and welcomes the public’s comments.
